Wedding Decor...

When I arrive at a venue to photograph a wedding one of the first things I do is check out the Decor! It's a real highlight of the day for me. I know just how much time you have spent choosing/ designing or making those special little extras and they deserve capturing!

I start with wide angle shots of the room.

Ambiance & Atmosphere...

Capturing the decor at a wedding is an essential aspect of wedding photography as it helps to preserve the ambiance and atmosphere that the couple and planners worked hard to create.

I like to capture the decor before guests arrive to get shots without distractions.

I capture the unique elements like a guest book or favours. Any extra little details the couple have chosen for their wedding decor.

Rebecca & John had even printed the date of their wedding on the confetti cones! A great idea!

Free-lensing...

I like to experiment by using my modified 'free lensing style' lenses to create atmosphere.

Close -ups...

I include images of the place settings, menus, floral arrangements and really focus on the detail to really capture the mood & atmosphere.

I really loved Rebecca & John's decor from their wedding at Bardney Hall, North Lincolnshire ... esspecially the floral arrangements and place settings - so delicate - the natural light lit the room and the details absolutely perfectly.

Lighting...

I usually use the available natural light however Sian & Mike had the most beautiful colour scheme at their venue the Clifton Observatory and had the room lit pink to enhance the decor further. I love the shots I got...

Different perspectives...

I shoot from different angles—high, low, and eye-level—to give a sense of depth and variety.

Time of year...

I really love autumnal decor theme's like that of Mary & Andy's. They had an October wedding (on Haloween) and their theme of orange really suited their venue, The Ashes Barn in Staffordshire.

Personalised wedding favours...

Handmade knitted pumpkins for every guest made a really lovely wedding favour at Mary & Andy's wedding.

The cake...

My absolute favourtive part for me is to photograph and inspect the cake... However I never get to sample the cake as I am usually on my way home by the time the cake gets served to guests at the reception - but a girl can hope....

Unique to you...

Whichever the venue you choose there's a decor style to suit it - if you use a professional wedding decor supplier or if you choose to do it all yourself - I capture the mood and atmosphere which is unique to your wedding day.
