When is golden hour?
"That short period of time just after sunrise, or right before sunset, is known as the golden hour in photography. Also referred to as the magic hour, this period is defined by natural light which has a warm, reddish hue. Due to the sun's low angle, its rays filter through a greater distance."
On your wedding day I constantly check the light for the perfect time to take some Golden Hour shots (weather permitting) If we are lucky the evening will be still and we can leave your guests for a short while and take advantage of (in my option) the best light of the day....

The Winter sunset was perfect for their couple shots.

Add radiance to your photographs...
"It's a period of the day when the sun is lower than usual in the sky but not obscured by the horizon. This creates a warm, soft, and dreamy aesthetic light with an orange glow that adds radiance to photos."

Amy & Alan at Blakelands Country House
Amy & Alan had the perfect summer wedding. The sunset was perfection!

A few magic minutes...
I choose to take some of your newly-wed images in the day time after your ceremony and before your wedding breakfast. On a summers i day split taking your newly-wed images in the day time & then again in the early evening when that Golden light apears. In the winter because the sun sets much earlier, we generally take all of your couple shots in the Golden hour light...

Perfect light...
"Almost every photographer has a favourite time of day, but for a select few, the right timing can become something more: a cornerstone of their artistic practice"

Portraits...
"The warm tones and gentle contrasts during this brief window of time make it a preferred choice for capturing stunning and evocative photographs, emphasizing the importance of timing and natural lighting in the art of photography."
On the day of Libby & Rhy's wedding at Blackthorpe Barn in Suffolk, we were treated to the most beautiful light just before the newly-weds took to the floor for their first dance. I managed to get some beautiful portraits of them.

Long shadows...
"the sun is low on the horizon, casting long shadows and creating a golden hue that enhances the beauty of the surroundings. The light's angle adds depth and dimension to images"

Free lensing...
My signature style is traditional romantic style photography with a bit of free lensing (I call it my wonky lens) I use a lens to create photographs with just a slice of focus which creates a moody aesthetic to my images.

Ethereal atmosphere...
Capturing wedding couple photographs during the golden hour adds a touch of romance and enchantment to the images. The warm, soft, and diffused light during this magical period creates a flattering and ethereal atmosphere, enhancing the beauty of the bride and groom. The low angle of the sun during sunset or sunrise casts a golden hue, creating a romantic glow and long shadows that add depth and dimension to the photographs.

Intimate moments...
The Golden hour provides an ideal backdrop for intimate moments between the couple, allowing the photographer to capture genuine emotions and expressions.

Treasured for a lifetime...
The warm tones and soft contrasts create a timeless and dreamy aesthetic, making wedding couple photographs during the golden hour particularly cherished and memorable. Timing is crucial during this period, and skilled photographers capitalize on the fleeting moments to create stunning and evocative images that will be treasured for a lifetime.
