Joy!

Wedding confetti photographs capture the joyful and celebratory moments during a wedding ceremony or reception when confetti is thrown to celebrate the newlyweds.

The confetti shot is one of the key photographs that couples choose to capture on the day and, when you look at the ones I've had the chance to take, it’s easy to see why.

Becca & Sam's confetti shots at Bourton Hall were epic!

Timing....

On the day I need to be well-coordinated with the couple, wedding planner, or whoever is responsible for distributing the confetti. Timing is crucial to capture the moment when the confetti is thrown and creates a beautiful atmosphere.

Danielle & Luke had an epic amount of gorgeous confetti!

For best results...

The key to a great confetti wedding photo is to throw the confetti high into the air (not directly over the couple).

Lighting

I consider the lighting conditions at every venue. Whether the wedding is indoors or outdoors, the lighting can greatly impact the way confetti appears in photographs. Natural light is often preferred for a soft and romantic feel.

Amy & Lee married at the Thomas Robinson Building & we used the gardens to take their confetti shots

Wide angle...

Capturing the confetti falling from above, or focus on the expressions of the couple as they are showered with confetti. I use wide-angle shots to capture the entire scene, while using close-ups can emphasize the details.

Candid shots...

Candid shots often make for the most authentic and emotional photographs. Capture the genuine reactions of the couple and their guests as the confetti falls. These spontaneous moments can result in memorable images.

Confetti photographs to tell a story. Capture the buildup to the confetti moment, the actual moment of celebration and that kiss!

Shoot wide, shoot low...

I try to use different angles and perspectives. This might involve shooting from above, below, or from the side to add variety to the photo album.

Check with your venue...

Always check with your venue to see if they prefer the confetti shots to be taken in a particular spot (ease of clear up)

Dominique & Sam's church had no problem with their guests throwing real flower petals

Colourful confetti...

If the confetti used is colorful, it can add vibrancy to the photographs. The contrast of colorful confetti against the wedding attire and surroundings can create visually appealing images.

Getting technical...

Fast shutter speeds may be necessary to freeze the motion of falling confetti, while a wide aperture can create a shallow depth of field, emphasizing the couple in the foreground - but leave that bit to me!

Indoors or out?

In the right space confetti photo's can be taken indoors - maybe as you walk back down the isle as a married couple!

One last thing,

You can never have too much confetti...

No matter how much confetti you have - get more - images like Vicki & Prakash's confetti shots can only work with buckets of confetti! The more the merrier!
